Site: Urban context - 7cents rectangular plot with residential developments on all four sides. Main access from south; there is a service entry from north too.

Requirement: Their basic requirement itself was bit challenging - to have all living spaces, Master and parents' bed in ground floor itself along with covered porch for 2 cars!

Sandeep and Karthika wanted well-lit and ventilated spaces without compromising on privacy - they were reluctant to have a courtyard too (mainly because they were NRIs and maintenance issues were a major concern for them) 

Design: We went for an all-open plan to avoid space crampness. Privacy from neighborhood apartments was a major concern - so we avoided glazed openings and brought in porotherm blocks for ventilation. They were strategically placed on southwest walls to bring in monsoon winds & to cut off harsh sun. A centrally placed light-well lit up the whole interiors.
